Services Volunteer Education/Service Volunteers Through the collaborative efforts of the medical providers at Southwest Utah Community Health Center and the Utah Center for Rural Health (Southern Utah University), health care students and residents participate in clinical rotations in a rural practice setting. Our physician and physician assistants act as preceptors in providing opportunities for medical students to study and train. Job-shadowing opportunities for pre-med students, who need forty hours of patient exposure in order to get into medical school, can also be arranged. Southwest Utah Community Health Center coordinates with the AmeriCorps program and the Medically Underserved in Utah (AMUU) in their mission to reduce economic, geographic, cultural, and language barriers to health care and to expand primary care services for the medically under served populations of Utah. We currently have a full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) AmeriCorps member who helps eliminate cultural and language barriers for our clients. We also have opportunities for community volunteers who would like to provide clerical, filing, copy, fax and basic office suport functions. All Volunteers are required to sign a Statement of Confidentiality. For more information on volunteer opportunities, please call us at (435) 986-2565. |
